Carlos Pena, ACCION Chicago

Carlos is a Loan Officer at Accion Chicago, a non-profit organization which provides the credit and training necessary to help small business owners increase their incomes, create new jobs, and strengthen their communities. Prior to Accion, he worked as an analyst in Deloitte’s Financial Advisory Services group in Chicago, where he conducted research and performed valuations of public and private businesses for financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning purposes. Originally from Ecuador, Carlos came to the US to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated in 2011 with a double-major in Finance and Economics. He is fluent in Spanish and English.

Linda Forman, NAWBO

Beyond running her Evanston firm, Linda has a variety of interests and activities, especially those related to small business and advocacy. The Illinois CPA Society has given Linda its “media expert” award for multiple years and has featured her in print, radio and TV to discuss tax issues affecting businesses and individuals. She is an executive board member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) – Chicago chapter. She has also taught classes on tax and employee benefits issues to CPAs and health care issues to medical professionals. She is currently on the board of two non-partisan PACs – the Illinois CPA Society PAC and the NAWBO Chicago PAC.

Her expertise is in all elements of print design and digital marketing. Her focus is on creating branding and design that reflects each client’s vision and enhances their firm’s image. Her success is based on a keen understanding of each client’s target market and the ability to create a compelling visual translation -- one that works with the messaging to build a compelling and coordinated marketing effort.
Iris serves on the North Shore Board of the Small Business Advocacy Council and is a member of the Magnificent Mile Association’s Membership Committee. Her passion for creative and effective marketing extends to the non-profit community where she has used her talents to help a number of organizations promote events and raise funds. She has served on the boards of A Just Harvest, Literature for All of Us and Beth Emet Synagogue.
